Remembering Rosie...a night of comedy for The Compassionate Friends
Some of you may remember Rosie Beecroft, a former pupil here at St. Stephen's. Sadly, in December 2004 when she was just 9 and a half years old and in our Year 5, Rosie died suddenly of a brain aneurysm.
After Rosie died a charity called The Compassionate Friends (TCF) (www.tcf.org.uk) helped and supported Rosie's mum, Carolyn through those early months and years of raw grief , and she went on to volunteer on their National Helpline, now running the charity as their CEO. The charity offers support, understanding and hope to parents who have experienced the loss of a son or daughter at any age and from any cause.
Carolyn is organising a Comedy Night Fundraiser at The Bearcat Comedy Club (in Winchester Hall next to St Stephens School) on Monday 20th May 2019 to benefit The Compassionate Friends.
This fundraiser coincides with what would have been Rosie’s 24th birthday and commemorates 50 years of The Compassionate Friends’ support for bereaved families (1969 – 2019).
The Compassionate Friends has a local support group in Kingston for parents who have experienced the death of a son or daughter of any age and from any cause.
Their National Helpline is on 0345 123 2304 firstname.lastname@example.org and is open 365 days a year. The charity receives no national or local government funding, so we rely totally on fundraising and donations to continue to provide the vital support to bereaved parents.
Tickets are now on sale for this Comedy Night Fundraiser for The Compassionate Friends at The Bearcat Comedy Club at the Turks Head in St Margarets on Monday 20th May 2019. Doors open 7.45 pm, comedy at 8.30 pm. I hope you will be able to include details of this charity event in the St Stephens school newsletter?
