Building Each Other Up in Love and Learning

Lights! Camera! Action!

It's been a busy week this week for our Year 6 cohort who have been getting in touch with their creative side and immersing themselves in all things performance related!

Their first day back was an all day dance workshop by the sensational Lee from Boundless Dance where they were learning no less than FOUR routines. Each routine had 60 people involved, was completely different from the one they learnt previously and incorporated a different element of dance as well as characterisation too! They were breathtakingly brilliant - they even managed to make Miss Mizon cry she was so proud!

Next up was the beginning of our rehearsals for this year's production: The Lion King! The children were learning new songs, rehearsing their lines and getting to grips with how to bring their characters to life. It's the start of a long journey but we can't wait to see what they produce!

It didn't stop their though! Both classes were able to have a two hour workshop from The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond to immerse them in Shakespeare's play - The Tempest. They were introduced to Shakespeare's plays in a lively and engaging way, enriching their curriculum and deepening their understanding of the play in a performance. It was such a fantastic opportunity to gain a greater insight into a new style of play and learn from a team of theatre professionals!

And finally....our week concluded with a visit to the Lyceum Theatre in London to see The Lion King on stage. It was a spectacular night full of awe and wonder for all of the pupils who came to watch! They took inspiration on how to bring their own characters to life for when they are back in rehearsals on Monday and fell more in love with the songs we'll be singing too!

We can't wait to see them perform this year's production - break a leg, Year 6!
