Modern Foreign Languages
St. Stephen’s School has an exciting Modern Foreign Language (MFL) learning programme and our children’s progress in Modern Foreign Languages is outstanding.
In partnership with local schools. Children in Reception & KS1 access weekly Spanish language lessons where aspects of the lesson are conducted. Learning has been managed by the teacher and teaching assistant. We have linked to the University in Barcelona. As part of this link Spanish student teachers work alongside our staff in Reception and KS1.
In the current KS2 classes, French is taught and all children in the school have access to an extra-curricular Spanish Club. Staff have an ongoing professional development and support from teachers at Orleans Park School.
In all year groups our MFL programme covers the statutory aspects of oral, literal and multicultural understanding, ensuring that children have a solid foundation for excellent achievement in a foreign language at later stages of their education.
- Spanish is taught in Reception, Years 1 and 2
