What are Knowledge Organisers?
A set of key facts, information and vocabulary that pupils need to know and be able to recall in order to master a unit or topic. Typically, this fits onto one page of A4 paper, which helps pupils to visualise the layout of the page, which in turn helps them to memorise the information better.
Why do we use Knowledge Organisers?
As St Stephen’s, we used knowledge organisers in class and as homework to help children to learn the essential knowledge they need for each topic they study. We expect the majority of children to be able to recall all of the information on the knowledge organiser by the end of the unit of work.
How to learn the information on the knowledge organiser
It’s best to learn the knowledge organiser a little at a time. Learning the vocabulary first will help your child access the curriculum content at school. Stick it on the wall in a place your child will be able to refer to it when they need to.
