YEAR 4 - Hooke Court

We have finalised this trip to Hooke Court, Dorset from July 5th 2021 to July 7th 2021.

https://www.hookecourt.co.uk/residential/programmes/physical-geography/

The trip offers educational benefits relating to the Year 4 National Curriculum objectives, linking both physical and human geography (coastline features and economy).

The focus of the trip is contrasting localities. The children look at the land use of St Margaret's and compare it to Dorset. They also conduct surveys in St Margaret's and Dorset to collect economic data for comparison and analysis. The children also complete map work skills and investigate coastal features.

“Overview theme - land use/ economic activity and any local issue related to change.

The Year 5 children were due to complete this trip as part of their Year 4 geography curriculum, but the trip was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. As such, they are also attending this year.

Further information will be uploaded here shortly including the dates for briefing evenings, medical forms, packing lists and itineraries.

YEAR 5 - Hooke Court (this trip replaces the Year 4 Swanage trip that was cancelled last year)

As you know, we have had to postpone the Y4 school journey both last year and this year, due to Covid restrictions. Unfortunately, the centre we have visited in the past in Swanage each year has now closed.

Therefore, we have organised an alternative school journey to Hooke Court, Dorset (https://www.hookecourt.co.uk/residential/) from 5th - 7th July. This centre has an excellent reputation and we know it well as we have taken our Y6 children there for several years. We will be able to carry out very similar fieldwork and learning to what we had planned for Swanage.

The trip offers educational benefits, linking both physical and human geography (coastline features and economy). The focus of the trip is contrasting localities. The children look at the land use of St Margaret's and compare it to Dorset. They also conduct surveys in St Margaret's and Dorset to collect economic data for comparison and analysis. The children also complete map work skills and investigate coastal features.

Further information will be uploaded here shortly including the dates for briefing evenings, medical forms, packing lists and itineraries.

YEAR 6 - Hooke Court

A residential visit to support our studies of World War 1.

The children will take part in a range of exhilarating, hands-on, curriculum linked opportunities. The main focus of the trip will be on WW1 and children will be: learning to cook on open fires, working in trenches and experiencing a taste of life as a soldier, orienteering using grid references and maps, examining artefacts and learning musical pieces and songs from this period of time.

Please see  https://www.hookecourt.co.uk/residential/  for more details. Further information will be uploaded here shortly including the dates for briefing evenings, medical forms, packing lists and itineraries.
